Friday afternoon I heard a weather report for Saturday which got me really nervous--something to the effect of GALE FORCE WINDS! Even though I rarely panic or blow things out of proportion, hearing that the winds were going to be severe got my attention. I clearly remember the misery that was Claire and Easton's birthday party last year. UGH! I did not want to try and do something nice for the volunteers that really would be more like torture. Sand-filled burgers and flying buns are not considered desirable in all cultures. I ran around like a chicken sans head suggesting the BBQ be postponed. Why set ourselves up for failure?
It's a good thing my momentary panic did not result in a cancelled party. The winds were there, sure, but they were nothing tough cowboys and cowgirls like us couldn't handle! After all, most regular volunteers to Galloping Grace have experienced far worse on any prior visit to the ranch.
Dearest volunteers. We will now require that you give
us your firstborn child as a donation. In addition,
fill this out and then that and don't forget this other
boring form about that boring thing. And then...we just
might let you scoop some poop--if you're lucky!
Listen folks, I never get uptight about safety so I had absolutely NOTHING to do with all that. Well, maybe just a couple small details...for the children ,of course!
When you l00k at this group shot, please note the losers hiding in the back row. I am appalled at their actions. No, I did not just take the picture when they accidentally moved out of position. There were several similar pictures taken that look the same. These turd ladies deliberately avoided my camera. I would never do such a thing and am shocked there are others out there who would. Carri, Steph, Deanell, Beth, Renee--unbelievable!
We love you!

I'm the first to respond! And I never respond! A fun time was had by all--good food, good company and good location. And the banana pudding was yummy (comfort food for me). Max took partial credit for it. What a guy--jack of all trades. Great pictures, as usual.
glad it was fun! just causse we weren't there doesn't mean we don't wanna help out, ya know ;)
love ya

For once I have to follow after my lovely wife - but I don't mind. I do it a lot around here.
Great pictures and, as Betty said, good food. Max and Trish were efficient (which can be a code word for boring, but I would never use it that way).
The kids were great.
Good times for all.

I'm so glad that the wind didn't blow your volunteers away! It looks like a super fun time.... except for the boring part! :)
Clipboards?, forms?, and files? These people must really love helping kids! How many forms are necessary have someone mail me some of that banana pudding? mark
that is not true, i bet lots of cultures would find a burger with sand absolutely divine! ahhh, i dont miss that dirt-y wind. nope, not one bit. here when it is windy, it is just wind. go figure.
happy birthday justin. how old is he now??

What a great day! I'm so glad the weather was bearable and everyone got a chance to enjoy good company and spend a few minutes on those ever-exciting forms! :)
How fun! Glad the weather behaved! It did here for a long weekend of branding (thank God!).
Looks like you have a fantastic crew to put to work!
I love BBQs! They are so much fun! Do you guys always have a lot of wind there? We get a lot of wind at our house, but it's because we live in a big field. Not too great come hurricane season.
I love the group shot! You guys had a great turn out! Happy Birthday Justin!
Awww, such happy, tummy-happy faces you had there!
Looks like a good time was had by all.
